SF Hacks is San Francisco State University's nationally acclaimed student-led hackathon, dedicated to inspiring innovation, collaboration and social impact through technology.
SF Hacks is SF State's student-led hackathon organization, hosting both smaller campus events and our flagship annual national hackathon that is officially partnered with Major League Hacking's (MLH) 2026 hackathon season. This spring, we brought 200+ students from universities across the nation to our campus for a weekend of learning, networking, and developing tech projects designed to solve real-world challenges.
This year, we brought companies like Meta, IBM, CRS, Actian, and Jobs for the Future Ventures to campus to highlight the talent at SF State. These sponsors will be giving some of our students special perks such as LinkedIn shoutouts from prominent engineers, personal tours of the IBM Silicon Valley Campus and career coaching sessions, and meetings with a venture team to discuss the business potential of their hackathon projects. The benefit students will receive from this is incalculable, and we additionally received word from some of our sponsors that they are seeking to recruit from some of the winning teams of the hackathon.
But events of this scale are costly. From meals for hundreds of students over three days, to merchandise, prizes, workshops, and venue logistics, the costs add up quickly. In total, it will cost $30,000 this year for us to make this event possible. Your support ensures we can continue hosting this empowering event free of charge, removing financial barriers for students like us and fostering an inclusive environment for innovation.
Every single gift directly supports student creativity, collaboration and growth for our students. With your help, we can kickstart student careers through engaged learning and competition. Invest in SF Hacks today and help build a brighter, tech-driven future for all, regardless of financial circumstance.
