Help support the SF State's Basic Needs Center this Gators Give Day!

The Basic Needs Center (BNC) is SF State's Basic Needs Initiative that supports students’ ability to reach their full potential at SF State by providing food, housing and financial crisis support programs, services, and referrals.

What our Department Provides:

🥬Emergency Meals: We provide students with access to emergency meals and grocery cards when students are facing high risk situations such as food insecurity.

🏠Emergency Housing: Our Case Management team supports students facing homelessness by providing emergency housing funds and hotel stays, along with support in finding stable long-term housing.

🛒CalFresh Application: Our CalFresh Coordinator and their student team helps to provide hundreds of student support in applying for CalFresh, our states SNAP program.

💳Financial Literacy: Our Basic Needs team provides students with opportunities to learn about managing credit and loans, what is a credit score, how to make a budget, and more financial skills.

🍼Parenting and Hygiene Supplies: We keep our office filled with various supplies students might need including shampoo, razors, laundry detergent, and more. We also stock items for our parenting students such as diapers.

🎓Career Development: Our team hires student staff to also help them learn skills such as advocacy, social media outreach, case management support, and program evaluation.

What You Provide:

Any support you provide will help our team to continue providing more basic needs services for the SFSU student body! Some examples of your impact would include:

• $10 provides a student parenting and hygiene supplies
• $20 provides a student a meal and hygiene supplies
• $100 provides a workshop students can attend on making a budget
• $200 provides a student meal and hygiene supplies for a week
• $2000 can provide a student emergency housing support
• $4000 can provide a student staff position in the Basic needs Center
