Gifts to American Society of Mechanical Engineers contribute to...
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers at SFSU is one of the most widely recognized and largest engineering organizations on this campus, with over 140 members, dedicated to providing academic and career opportunities to our members and the engineering community at SFSU. We've hosted a variety of different events, including info sessions with companies from industries such as robotics and construction, CAD workshops to help develop technical skills, study groups to help students with the more difficult courses in engineering, and social events to foster a sense of community amongst our college. Additionally, we host many events with other engineering organizations, including career fairs, info sessions, and large-scale social events. This year we want to expand our reach and provide more opportunities to help our members succeed.
However, our new initiatives will require more funding. We want to provide support for our members to begin build and design projects they can submit to competitions and add to their resumes, but they need parts and materials to do so. The school has recently cut funding for senior projects, making it more difficult for soon-to-graduate students to finalize their capstone projects, which we could help provide funding for. There are a plethora of different conventions and events organized by our national organization and other prestigious engineering organizations, but we need funding for travel and lodging. We have begun searching for sponsorships and requested an updated budget from UCorp to maximize the funding we have available, but this isn't enough. Faculty and fellow students have done a lot of work to do what we've been able to accomplish at ASME, but with the help of alumni, we can ensure more students have a better chance of becoming exceptional engineers.
Join us in supporting the American Society of Mechanical Engineer at SF State. Thank you for you generosity and support! #GatorsGiveDay
