About the Chemistry & Biochemistry Student Association (CBSA)
- The Chemistry & Biochemistry Student Association (CBSA) at San Francisco State University is a student-run organization dedicated to building a stronger, more connected scientific community on campus. We aim to support students academically, professionally, and socially as they navigate their journey through STEM.
- CBSA creates opportunities for growth through study groups, industry tours, and guest speaker events. We organize hands-on science outreach for local youth, help bridge the gap between students and faculty, and celebrate our members' accomplishments through graduation ceremonies and community events.
- Our mission is to foster academic excellence, promote career exploration, build leadership, and create a welcoming environment where students feel seen, supported, and inspired — no matter their background. We believe in the power of community, curiosity, and collaboration to help every student thrive in the sciences.
With your support, we can:
๐ Fund our Graduation Ceremony to celebrate over 60 dedicated graduates — many of whom are first-generation college students.
๐ Expand our study groups and pre-exam workshops in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and more to help students succeed in challenging STEM courses.
๐ข Host biotech lab tours and industry visits that give students firsthand exposure to scientific careers in companies like Genentech and Gladstone Institutes.
๐งโ๐ซ Invite guest speakers from academia and industry to guide students through graduate school applications, research, and job searches.
๐งช ๐ฌ Organize science fairs and outreach events like the EOS Science Festival, where CBSA members bring fun experiments to local youth.
With your gift on #GatorsGiveDay, CBSA can continue offering hands-on learning experiences, career-building programs and impactful outreach efforts to SF State students and high school students with a passion for chemistry.
๐ Make a gift today and help shape the future of chemistry in the Bay Area! #GatorsGiveDay
