Fog City Rocketry

Fog City Rocketry (FCR) is San Francisco State University’s premier student-led rocketry team, dedicated to hands-on aerospace education, innovation, and equity in STEM. Originally established in 2019 and revived in 2022, we empower students with applied learning opportunities, technical training, and real-world engineering challenges.

At Fog City Rocketry, we aim to build an applied learning space where students of all backgrounds can develop skills in rocketry, engineering and data collection. Our GitHub workshops and project-based approach provide hands-on experience in designing, building, and launching rockets. However, limited funding and resources create barriers to access for many students who aspire to enter the aerospace field.

Why Your Support Matters

Unlike other universities in the Bay Area with well-funded aerospace programs, SFSU lacks dedicated facilities and financial support for student rocketry. We are the first SFSU organization to launch a model rocket sanctioned by the university. But to continue innovating, we need your help!

• Breaking Equity Barriers: Many students passionate about aerospace face financial obstacles. Early funding ensures that students who join our organization in the first few weeks have access to materials, training, and hands-on experience.
• Expanding Opportunities: We introduce students to model rocketry, organize rocketry-focused events, and strive to conduct real flight tests at remote launch sites beyond the university’s 100-ft altitude limit.
• Becoming SFSU’s Student Space Agency: We envision FCR as the leading student-run aerospace initiative, fostering collaborations with local high schools, community colleges, and industry professionals.
• Acquiring and Measuring Data: Our projects emphasize hands-on experimentation and data collection, aligning with our commitment to equity in STEM education.
