Modern Languages and Literatures

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL) is the Place to Study the Languages and Cultures of the World!

We offer majors or minors in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Russian, and Spanish, as well as innovative certificates in Multilingual and International Business Competencies, Multilingual and International Tourism Competencies, and Language Learning and Teaching.

Just as importantly, we bring the world to San Francisco State. Throughout the year, we host cultural events featuring guest speakers, writers, and artists from across the globe.
